The collection of paintings in Southwest gallery are an homage to my Arizona roots. Growing up with Spanish and Mexican influences, I focused (as I usually do) on using bright vibrant colors to convey optimism, life and energy. In these paintings, I tried to express the beauty of the culture, people, and landscape, but also some of the harshness of the history and environment with the dark backgrounds, thorns, barbed wire and guns.

exhibit: Sunnyslope Art Walk
In October 2011, I participated in the Sunnyslope Art Walk. The art walk and festival is an annual community event established to further the unique cultural character and creative assets of the Sunnyslope Community, to advocate for the continuing presence and role of the arts and small business in the health and growth of the neighborhood, and to foster a livable, diverse and walkable urban community.
